Hesiod indicates her as the daughter of two titans: Hyperion and Teia. She was the sister of Helios (the Sun) and of Selene (the Moon). He is the wife of Astreus, with whom he generated the winds Zephyrus, Boreas, Noto and Apeliote. Later he also generated Phosphoros. Among the first lovers of Eos is named Zeus himself, from whom he had a daughter named Ersa (or Erse), goddess of dew, elsewhere considered the daughter of the father of the gods and Selene, sister of Eos. Later it was loved by Ares, the god of war, with whom he shared several times his thalamus (term used in the archaic period to designate various rooms of the house, which went to indicate more commonly the bedroom, and then the same wedding bed ); disdained by the betrayal of her lover, Aphrodite punished her rival goddess, condemning her to fall in love with the constant of ordinary mortals.
